Abstract. The article presents the results of an assessment of the effect of different dietary fiber sources (wheat bran, sunflower husk, millet husk, and rice husk) on the elemental composition of the blood serum in broiler chickens at ages of 21 and 42 days, as determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‑MS). The chemical composition of the studied samples differed substantially. Wheat bran had the highest crude protein content and the lowest lignin level, whereas rice husk had the highest crude fiber and lignin contents. Sunflower husk was characterized by the highest concentrations of calcium, cobalt, and chromium. On day 21, compared with the control values, statistically significantly lower serum iron concentrations were found: by 35% with the use of wheat bran and by 18% with the use of millet husk. Lithium levels were lower by 37.2% with millet husk and by 38.3% with rice husk. Higher vanadium values, by 11%, were observed in the sunflower husk group. Thus, the inclusion of 3% dietary fiber in the diet did not have a pronounced effect on the serum mineral composition of broiler chickens for most of the studied macro- and microelements. At the same time, the observed changes in the concentrations of individual elements indicate a possible differentiated effect of various dietary fiber sources on the mineral status of poultry, which should be taken into account when developing and optimizing diets.
