Summary. This publication discusses the use of heat-treated lupine as a cheap alternative to expensive protein feed components in the diets of laying hens. The aim of the study was to assess the effects of lupine on production indicators such as egg production and longevity. Two groups of birds were selected for the experiment. The control group received the main diet without lupine, and the experimental group received the diet with heat-treated lupine. In the experimental diet, soybean meal and sunflower meal were partially replaced with heat-treated lupine. According to the results of the experiment, the productivity indices in the group that received heat-treated lupine in the diet were no worse than in the control group. Egg productivity was higher in the experimental group, other indicators were practically at the same level. The cost of 1 ton of feed, where lupine was used, was lower than in the control, where soybean meal and sunflower meal were introduced.

Keywords: laying hens, feeding, lupine, livestock safety, egg production.
