Abstract. The article presents an overview of information on the processing of solid secondary material resources (materials and products that, after original use, can be reused in production as a raw material or product; they are a source of additional material and technical resources), namely protein waste, which amount to 30 % of all municipal solid waste and adversely affect the environment. Utilization of protein waste is one of the global problems in the world. Several ways of processing secondary material resources, their application in production are considered. Emphasis is placed on the processing of protein waste directly for feeding in animal husbandry. The most common methods of processing protein waste into feed flour, but it has been found that this method is detrimental to animals, because their stomach is not able to process a large amount of protein. A more profitable and useful method of recycling, applicable for feeding in animal husbandry, has been revealed to obtain hydrolysates by the method of enzymatic hydrolysis. In animal feeding, the method of enzymatic hydrolysis has only a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract, affecting microbial fermentation, which improves the absorption of nutrients and ultimately the health of the animal. Despite its positive qualities, this method has not been sufficiently studied and requires further research.

Keywords: farm аnimals, feeding, protein waste, enzymatic hydrolysis, protein waste utilization
