Abstract. The aim of the research was to study the effect of pre–sowing seed treatment with various trace elements in an ultrafine form on the yield of spring barley and millet. The work was conducted in 2024-2025 at the experimental fields of the FSBRI FRC BST RAS. Seeds of grain and cereal crops were treated with a suspension of ultrafine particles of trace elements in a polymer coating before sowing: Zn (10-3%), Cu (10-6%) and Mp (10-4%). The consumption of the working solution was 10 ml/kg of seeds. Vegetation conditions were characterized in 2024 by increased precipitation with unstable temperature conditions, in 2025 by – high temperatures with uneven precipitation. On average over two years, the results of the study showed that the yield of millet was 2.82-3.74 t/ha, spring barley 1.67-1.83 t/ha. The maximum increase in millet productivity was achieved by treating seeds before sowing with ultrafine zinc particles (32.6% higher relative to the control) and manganese (32.0% higher relative to the control). The highest yield of barley was obtained on variants using zinc, the increase relative to the untreated variants was 8.4%, and seed treatment with manganese reduced the indicator by 4.8%. Thus, the research results have shown the prospects of using metal nanoparticles to increase the yield of the studied crops in the conditions of the Orenburg region.
