Abstract. The article presents the results of scientific research aimed at improving existing and developing new progressive technologies for maintenance and feeding beef cattle, as well as technologies for rearing and fattening young stock at industrial complexes and feedlots. Different climatic, economic and managerial conditions in certain zones of the country necessitate the use of specific beef production technologies, both in dairy and beef cattle farming, ensuring the highest beef output while reducing feed, labour and costs per unit of production. The experience of beef cattle farming in specialized enterprises using the «cow-calf» system is summarized. The obtained data indicate that the creation of a strong feed base, targeted breeding work, compliance with basic technological requirements, and the use of intensive technologies for rearing and fattening young stock ensure profitable beef cattle farming in different regions of the country. A detailed analysis of the state and development prospects of specialized beef cattle farming is provided, and the main organizational and technological solutions for the industry are presented. It is shown that equipping open pens with three‑wall shelters increases average daily gains by 14.1 %, while the use of mounds provides an additional 23.3 kg of gain per head increasing the profitability level by 8.9%. It was found that the optimal size of a technological group is 100-150 head with a feeding front of 0.35 m per animal.
